"Treatment saved my life."

I was the mother of two children when drugs took over my life. I started out drinking beer, and progressed to hard liquor. At first, I would only drink on my weekends off from work. But soon, I was drinking more and neglecting my parental responsibilities. Then, I got involved with shooting meth. I was addicted for years.

My drug addiction got progressively worse. I decided one night, after getting into a fight with another girl at a bar, to go home, get a knife, and go back to the bar and stab her. Thank god, someone stopped me on the way back to the bar. That’s when I knew I needed to get some help.

This is why I am sharing my story. I went into treatment on September 24, 1985. I have been clean ever since that date, I’m coming up on 32 years drug free. Treatment saved my life.
