"If you really want to quit I would seek the help of a good counselor and other people in recovery."
I started drinking and using drugs at the age of 14. My first experience with drinking was when I stole alcohol from my grandmother. My cousin and I poured large glasses of whiskey and proceeded to drink them. The results from drinking lead me to the emergency room, with a slight concussion from wrecking my bike while drunk.
Throughout the next several years, I proceeded to make bad choices, and use alcohol and drugs. I experienced bouts of depression, attempted suicides and struggled with an eating disorder. I spent time in a psychiatric hospital several times, and finally through the advice of a counselor entered a Rehab center at the age of 20.
This is why I am sharing my story. My recovery had its difficulties, and I even relapsed for 7 years about 14 years ago after my divorce. If you really want to quit I would seek the help of a good counselor and other people in recovery. I have a strong faith in God, which I feel has helped me immensely. Do not give up; if you fail just keep trying.
